Charlie Hunnam will not be playing the role of Christian Grey in EL James' erotica novel trilogy Fifty Shades Of Grey. "The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey," Universal Pictures and Focus Features said in a joint statement. "I wish Charlie all the best. x," James tweeted shortly after the news broke. The Sons of Anarchy star was shooting the finale for the hit FX series last week and it will continue this upcoming week. Hunnam was set to star alongside Dakota Johnson and filming was scheduled to reportedly begin November 5 in Vancouver. "The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey," James tweeted when she made the casting announcement on Sept. 2. Fifty Shades is scheduled to hit theaters in North America Friday, August 1, 2014, with opening dates around the world to be revealed at later times.
Miley Cyrus was on "Ellen" on Friday, and she talked about her breakup from Liam Hemsworth, and her performance at the VMAs. She said she doesn't really think about their relationship anymore. She said her energy has been focused elsewhere, and when she closes a chapter in her life, she doesn't look back.
Miley also talked about her now-infamous performance at the VMAs. She said Robin Thicke shouldn't have acted surprised, because he was at rehearsals and he knew what was going to happen. She also said it was supposed to be "funny" and "provocative."
If this actually happened, then it's one of the best things that's happened this year: The not-always-reliable British tabloids say Shia Labeouf was punched in the face and kicked in the crotch for filming two girls puking on the sidewalk. Shia is in London filming a World War 2 movie called "Fury" with Brad Pitt and Scott Eastwood. The other night, he was out on the town with a friend, when he came across two sisters who were throwing up on the sidewalk. We assume they were drunk, although that's not explicitly stated. Whatever the case, Shia found this amusing, so he whipped out his phone and started filming them. They asked him to stop, but he wouldn't. So a total stranger who happened to witness this walked up to Shia, slugged him in the face TWICE and kicked him in the pills. At that point, bouncers from a nearby club jumped in and pulled everyone apart. Shia took off, and as far as we know, he didn't file a police report. Ironically, one of the girls says she didn't even recognize Shia until after he got beat up. She says if she'd known it was him, she would have gladly allowed him to film her throwing up, because she has a "massive crush" on him.
One more reason for Jeremy to love Carrie Underwood. She smells fruity, as in coconut oil. She loves the stuff and is happy to share. She tells "Women's Health", quote, "I put coconut oil on my food, I put it on my face, I put it on my hair. If it's winter, the second I get out of the shower, I spread it all over and it feels really good and it smells good too." As you know, Carrie is a proud vegan, but she's not a strict one. She says, quote, "I consider myself to be a practical vegan. If I order something on a menu and it has a sprinkling of cheese on top I'm not going to send it back. "I've been vegetarian . . . no fish no chicken no meat vegetarian . . . for about a decade now. The vegan thing is something I try to do my best on because it's a cheesy world out there. "It's when I go other places that it can be a challenge especially when you don't exactly know what you're ordering. It doesn't say that there's cheese on the menu. But like I said I'm practical vegan."
NBC is developing a new sitcom starring Meg Ryan as, quote, "a single mom who decides to return to work at her former publishing house, where she will be supervised by her 30-year-old former intern." Meg hasn't done much acting recently. This will be her first major role since the 2008 movie, "The Women". She got a Razzie nomination for Worst Actress for that, along with her co-stars, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing and Jada Pinkett Smith. Since then, Meg has had two small roles on TV: On Showtime's "Web Therapy", and a cameo as herself on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm".
Apparently, Hollywood is under the assumption that we have a need for shows based on "The Wizard of Oz", because there are now FIVE of them in development. The latest one is a drama for the Lifetime network called "Red Brick Road". It's being described as, quote, "an edgy, 'Game of Thrones'-like take on the world within 'The Wizard of Oz'." In the movie, when Dorothy is first presented with the "Yellow Brick Road," it's intertwined with a RED brick road. This show will be about Dorothy taking THAT path, to, quote, "the oldest, darkest and most dangerous parts of Oz." NBC has a show in the works called "Emerald City", which is a dark, "Game of Thrones"-style drama . . . there's also CBS's "Dorothy", which is a "medical soap" The CW is working on a drama called "Dorothy Must Die", where Dorothy becomes the evil DICTATOR of Oz and Syfy is doing a miniseries called "Warriors of Oz", which is some sort of a, quote, "fantasy-slash-action re-imagining" of the story.
Joe Jonas has a new guy in his entourage -- a well-known addiction specialist who once worked with Demi Lovato. We noticed the guy hanging with Joe as they walked out of a recording studio together in West Hollywood Thursday afternoon. His name is Mike Bayer -- the CEO and founder of Cast Recovery Services. According to his profile on the company website, Bayer is described as being "well known for quickly responding to crisis situations" ... typically of the substance abuse/mental health variety. It's unclear why he's with Joe -- but when photogs tried to talk to the rock star on his way into the building, he made it clear he was not down for a conversation. As TMZ previously reported, sources connected with the band are saying a possible breakup was tied to a conflict over musical direction, but who knows. Joe's rep had no comment.
