Emily's Blog

Hello, my friends!
I am over the moon to be a part of the morning show. I am finally living proof of that old saying, “If you love what you do, you never have to work a day in your life.”
I was born in New York, although I call myself a Ken Caryl girl… A Chatfield graduate to be exact. And my many adventures have brought me everywhere from Europe to California. The stage of Shakespeare’s Globe, to the lights of the Las Vegas Strip. And after years of soul searching, two broken engagements, four different colleges, and millions of hours in the restaurant industry, here I am. Yappin yer ear off on Mix 100.
A quick breakdown of moi includes, but is not limited to:
1. I would gratefully eat sushi for each meal every day of my life if I could afford it.
2. My dirty little secrets include, but are not limited to: a full-on nail polish addiction, Bryan Fuller television series, live bar trivia, Goonies/Pretty Woman quotes, Daddy-Daughter meals, boxed-wine consumption, Marilyn Monroe and Beatles snapshot collecting, and The Gin Blossoms. I freaking love the Gin Blossoms.
3. My doggie, Kramer, is the cutest Shih Tzu on the planet; quite possibly the cutest dog in the world. It’s really not fair to other pups how ridiculously adorable my Kramer is.
4. Friends are my family, and my family is my life… And oh how I love to embarrass my sucker friends and family.
5. I, without fail, say what everyone is thinking but too scared to voice out loud. It’s a blessing… And a curse. (As I’m sure you know from listening to the show!)
Let's be friends! I'm good for a chuckle or three. And please, keep listening to Dom in the Morning with Emily and Jeremy weekday mornings for hours of laughs, stories, and general merriment. You, my dears, rock my world.  Check out my Instagram, Facebook or blog below!

Oh what charm, oh what taste.

I’m slightly obsessed with all things 60s. I’ve even proudly declared my desire for full skirts, white gloves, and aprons to make a fashion come back. There’s just such a classy, high-quality, pure spirit about that decade that will allure you. The 60s were itching with change and fashion and metal and music and Jackie O and the whole kit-n-caboodle just fascinates me.

Found this story, and it made me all misty… in a good way. If you love rescue stories, dogs, or have a pulse, your heart will love this.

Turns out this phone case is the difference between a lovely picture, and a dark shadow of shame that you will immediately delete. Props to the dude at the Grammys who caught Kimmy K mid-selfie and revealing her secret. Let the flawless photos commence...

While looking for the Space Jam soundtrack in my CD book, I stumbled upon an equally marvelous disc. A former co-worker burned it for me when I was 22 years old and living in San Diego. I would blast this CD in my green Dodge Neon, and fantasize about true love and flowers and rainbows and crap. Listening to it now still makes me smile. Hope you enjoy the song… and the rainbows and crap.

Sweet little Tay Tay Swift recently offered her support to a sister friend in need. Teenager Kacey reached out to Taylor via Tumbler and explained her heartbreak over being dumped by her boyfriend over a text message. (Been there.) Taylor responded with genuine and sweet words of comfort:

I don’t know if this video can be considered universally beautiful. I can’t see a chicken wing-lovin’ man in a football jersey watching this and thinking, “Hey, THAT was some emotionally charged and mesmerizing dancing!”
But I’m going out on a limb and saying that THIS is some emotionally charged and mesmerizing dancing. And if you don’t think so, I hope you choke on a chicken wing.
Juuuuuuust kidding, bro.

This may be one of my favorite Grammy performances ever.

It's nice to see the lovely Kelly Clarkson back in action. This song isn't revolutionary by any means, but either are pistachios. And I love both. (For those of you doing the 'huh' face right now, I just compared Heartbeat Song to a delicious nut. They're both wonderful.) I also think KC looks incredible in this video; and while I would never dare, I'm totally diggin her half-shaved head.
So enjoy your very first American Idol in her first music video as a mummy...

I'm a bit uncomfortable this morning. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue is being released in a few days, and it’s making some waves. Female body waves. Big female body waves and little female body waves.

In my never-ending quest to be as fabulous as possible, I decided to seek out the advice of friends who are so fantastic, they nearly leave a trail of glitter wherever they go. That kind of unique charm is a rare gift, let me tell ya. And far be it from me to withhold such advice from you. Because we could all use a little more sparkle and confidence from time to time.
What you are about to read are the nuggets of advice from darling humans that live a life of love. Period. Some of them are men who love men. Some of them are women who love women. Some have chosen to be authentic to their identities, even if it meant going against social standards.
But all of these people feel the same as you and me. They love, they cry, they get frustrated, they crave salt, they smile at babies and probably are afraid of spiders, they have faith and fear and confidence and respect, and they even suffer from bad hair days.
Sounds like me. Sounds like you.
Sounds like we could all stand to open our hearts a bit more, because it turns out I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
