Mix 100.3 - All the Hits - Free Money Song!

Emily's Blog

Hello, my friends!
I am over the moon to be a part of the Dom and Jane Show. I am finally living proof of that old saying, “If you love what you do, you never have to work a day in your life.”
I was born in New York, although I call myself a Ken Caryl girl… A Chatfield graduate to be exact. And my many adventures have brought me everywhere from Europe to California. The stage of Shakespeare’s Globe, to the lights of the Las Vegas Strip. And after years of soul searching, two broken engagements, four different colleges, and millions of hours in the restaurant industry, here I am. Yappin yer ear off on Mix 100.
A quick breakdown of moi includes, but is not limited to:
1. I would gratefully eat sushi for each meal every day of my life if I could afford it.
2. My dirty little secrets include, but are not limited to: a full-on nail polish addiction, Bryan Fuller television series, live bar trivia, Goonies/Pretty Woman quotes, Daddy-Daughter meals, boxed-wine consumption, Marilyn Monroe and Beatles snapshot collecting, and The Gin Blossoms. I freaking love the Gin Blossoms.
3. My doggie, Kramer, is the cutest Shih Tzu on the planet; quite possibly the cutest dog in the world. It’s really not fair to other pups how ridiculously adorable my Kramer is.
4. Friends are my family, and my family is my life… And oh how I love to embarrass my sucker friends and family.
5. I, without fail, say what everyone is thinking but too scared to voice out loud. It’s a blessing… And a curse. (As I’m sure you know from listening to the show!)
Let's be friends! I'm good for a chuckle or two. Find me on Facebook. And please, keep listening to the Dom and Jane Show weekday mornings for hours of laughs, stories, and general merriment. You, my dears, rock my world.  Check out my Instagram, Facebook or blog below!

Who's got two thumbs and loves animals? This girl. I came across this awesomesauce story about a brilliant staple in the streets of Istanbul that helps stray animals.
(Please disregard the website name. I am neither bored or a panda. I am at work, being very diligent and productive.)

It was suggested to The Dom and Jane Show that we reveal unknown little bits about ourselves to the listeners. Just because we sprinkle our lives through out the show each morning, it doesn't mean that our listener family knows each of us very well. And I see in magazines all over the place a segment called "___ Things You Don't Know About Me". (The blank being whatever number of personal facts the author wants to dig up.) So I suggested to my morning show homies that we do 5 things about ourselves and share it with our delightful audiences.

I stumbled upon this little list of ways that make-up affects your love life.
As a girl with many makeup artist pals, (read: I hang out with a lot of Drag Queens), I kinda wish I had the gift of cosmetic artistry. The things a human can do with some foundation and eyelash glue are nuts! Google search 'face contouring make up', for example. Those pictures will blow your mind.
And when it comes to dating and men and your bronzers and glosses and curlers and liners, there's always a tug-of-war. Do you go natural for real, or "the natural look", which takes 45 minutes to create? How do you draw someone into your kisser without a plumping gloss, if Chapstick is the best thing to make contact with? Do you want your mascara to lengthen or thicken your lashes? Or both?! (All deep, meaningful questions, I realize.)
Silly stuff. But hey, they've done scientific studies on this crap. See below, and prepare to have your life changed.

Read my profile above. You'll see that one of my dirty little secrets is collecting Marilyn Monroe pictures. I simply j'adore her. So taking that into account, you can imagine how desperately I long to have one of these rare snap shots, that were just released by Limited Runs, in my permanent possession.
Jumping bunnies these captured moments are GORGEOUS.
Scroll through the stunning photographs, and let me know if you're in a giving mood. ;-)

Sooooooo we tease those people on social media who post nothing but corny, inspirational quotes and pictures. But, in all honesty, they do make me smile. So I have compiled a few images that bring a little flutter of happy to my soul. They are beautiful to me; some are pure, some are whimsical, some are even from my personal collection.
I sure do hope ya like them.
Feel free to call me corny.

Just for funsies, I thought I'd share the last 8 songs I've downloaded from iTunes. I'm always curious as to what people are listening to. Don't you think musical preferences can reveal so much about a person? I do.
When I was younger and dating around, I seriously would make mix tapes and CDs full of songs that would cater to the guy I was seeing. When they were in my car, I would play their mix so they would think I was a cool chick and we had music in common. I made a Radiohead mix for Kevin. Joe got a blend of dance and Bob Marley. I paired Garth Brooks with Kyle. Silly, I know.
I make mixes for myself now. I'm a lot more comfortable in my musical skin.
Anyhoos, here are my latest additions:

Just another charming little tidbit that fellow (fantastic) Coloradoans will understand fully. We can all realte to these moments, and have all learnedimportant lessons from said moments. (Hopefully.)
Despite our minor blemishes, I still say all the other states can suck it. :-)

I am a sucker for happy dog stories. And these 13 wee videos bring such joy to my heart. I get so much hope and love out of these reunions. If you have a moment or three today, scroll through and watch at least part of one.
And hug your dog for me.

Tarzan swung into the Arvada Center last weekend, (get it?!) and where to begin…
Oh so good.
The Arvada Center chose the adaption of the Disney movie Tarzan for its summer production. If you've ever seen the animated film you would be intrigued, I'm sure, to see how it would translate to the stage. (I know I was.) I mean, it's such an active story line, so exotic… Tarzan lives with apes and swings through trees, for cripe's sake! How the heck are they gonna pull this off?!

I love a good, juicy mystery. And I stumbled upon this article with 13 unsolved Hollywood mysteries. Tres interesting. Most of these I had never heard of, which intrigued me even more. I bet at the time, it was a total circus... and now, these scandals are barely a memory. I did learn some interesting things, like the all-time best villain in movie history, Christopher Walken, was on board the boat that Natalie Wood drowned from. Wha-whaaat??! And Bob Crane of Hogan's Heroes... What a kinky dude.
Hope you enjoy this totally random tidbit.

I love it when old and new collide. In the style of Neil Young, Jimmy Fallon rocked the hit "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea. And that horde of grandpas behind him? Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Jimmy is bringing classic music to younger audiences with his covers, and I love him for it. Enjoy this quirky version... and then go get drunk on the mini bar.

You never know who you will run into working at a radio station, and yesterday as I was coming out of the bathroom, I came face to face with Mary Lambert. (Yes, I washed my hands.) First thing I said was, "Can I hug you?!"
Back in March, my bestie Kat married her fiance Erin, and the Mary Lambert song "She Keeps Me Warm" was a huge part of the ceremony. Mary's song is also the chorus of the Macklemore song "Same Love", which has become an equal rights anthem... and makes me cry due to it's beauty.
As we chatted, I couldn't wipe the smile off of my face. Mary is seriously delightful and kind, modest and strong. She has a new album coming out soon, and when asked about it, she let out a huge sigh and said, "I'm just so so so proud of it."
Keep an ear out for her new single "Secrets", which is a bouncy tune that is hard not to love. It's all about acceptance and joy... and there's even a line about mom jeans.
This video is me gushing to Mary about her hit SKMW, and its placement in my life.
I heart you, Mary Lambert.
