Two of the most sought-after roles in Hollywood have been filled. Dakota Johnson will star as Anastasia Steele and Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey in the highly anticipated film adaptation of the erotically charged novel Fifty Shades of Grey. Author E.L. James announced the news on Monday morning in a number of bombshell tweets. She started with Johnson, the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. Distributor Focus Features confirmed it shortly thereafter. "I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey," the first tweet said, ending months of breathless speculation. Moments later James wrote, "The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."
After an exhausting game of musical chairs, it looks like Harry Connick Jr. might be the third and final American Idol judge for Season 13, a source confirms to Us Weekly. The singer and actor may be joining Jennifer Lopez, 44, and Keith Urban, 45, who have already solidified their spots on the panel. Former judge Randy Jackson, 57, will replace Jimmy Iovine as mentor, the source adds. Lopez is back after serving as a judge in 2011 and 2012 and Urban is returning for a second consecutive year. His Season 12 team -- Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj -- both announced in May they would be exiting the show after just one year.
Things don't seem to be going in the right direction for Lamar Odom. At about 3:45 AM on Friday, he was busted for DUI near Los Angeles. Cops said he was pulled over for going TOO SLOW 50 miles per hour on the 101 Freeway. He was also driving in a, quote, "serpentine manner." He actually passed three exits with the cops on his tail before he finally pulled over. He failed several field sobriety tests, but there's no word WHAT he was under the influence of. He refused all chemical tests, so his license was suspended for a year. Lamar and Khloe arrived back home later in the day Friday . . . in separate cars. As an interesting side-note, Lamar reportedly had a secret meeting with NBA drug counselors at his home on Thursday. But after they left, so did he, and he wasn't seen again until his arrest on Friday morning. Here's an even MORE interesting side-note: Lamar has hired ROBERT SHAPIRO to be his attorney. Shapiro worked on O.J. SIMPSON'S legal team along with the late ROBERT KARDASHIAN. Meanwhile the "Los Angeles Times" says Lamar was involved in a three-car accident on the 101 Freeway last Saturday, just six days before his arrest. It was Lamar's fault, because he rear-ended someone who then got pushed into the car of an "L.A. Times" reporter. It wasn't a serious accident, and everyone just traded insurance info. Although the reporter says Lamar didn't want to at first.
Chris Brown took his bad-neighbor ways on vacation ... throwing a huge house party inside his rented Hawaiian mansion, and pissing off a slew of neighbors in the process. CB was in the Aloha state last week for a gig -- plus some graffiti fun -- and rented a sick pad in Honolulu. Check out the pics ... we're talkin' 5,100 square feet, pool and spa for $2,450 per night. But CB didn't start out the best tenant ... sources connected to the situation tell us the first night Chris was in town he threw a giant shindig -- and neighbors were so pissed they called the owner of the house to complain. The landlord took note, but didn't give Chris the boot. Did we mention the $2,450/night? We're told Chris and his entourage were at the house for a week and there were no further incidents. As we reported, right after Chris got back from Hawaii ... his L.A. neighbors also complained about noise, but they called cops. Yeah, Chris has a bad track record with neighbors everywhere.
This weekend on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians", Kris Jenner suddenly told everyone she and her husband Bruce once made a sex tape. The whole family was there eating dinner, and she just dropped it. Don't worry, they say they've already erased the tape. They didn't say whether this was before or after Kim's tape with Ray J came out.
Last week Justin Bieber and Tyler, the Creator posted pictures on Instagram of them eating at a Fatburger in Los Angeles. And someone started a rumor that they shared a milkshake while they were there. But Tyler denied it when the paparazzi asked him about it later. He said it would be gay if two guys shared a milkshake. And he definitely thinks there's something wrong with that.
Also, the Biebs and his crew are still under investigation for a nightclub assault. Over the weekend, Justin was the VICTIM of an assault at a Toronto club called Uniun. Sources say a guy tried to bum-rush Justin and tackle him as he was walking to the dance floor. He got a hold of Justin's shirt before the chaos was broken up. Justin tried to go after the guy, but he was being held back, too. The attacker was kicked out of the club, but he left with a souvenir . . . one of Justin's gold chains.
Nothing can keep Amanda Bynes away from Twitter. Not even a psychiatric ward. The troubled actress returned to the social media site Saturday after more than a month's hiatus. "I love Drake," she wrote Aug. 31. Her last comment on July 19 was, "Drake is gorgeous." It's anyone's guess how Bynes may have been able to log on to her account from the confines of the UCLA Medical Center's psychiatric facility where she currently resides. Doctors at the medical center extended her long-term hold Friday and she could reportedly remain under their care for up to a year. But sources indicate that it's unlikely she'll stay for a year and will instead undergo treatment for another 60 days in order to stabilize her before she's transferred to her mother's home.
Endurance swimmer Diana Nyad reached the coast of Florida yesterday, after leaving from Cuba two days earlier. It was the first time in history that someone swam from Cuba to Florida without a protective cage. Oh yeah she's also 64 years old. This was her fifth try in the past 35 years, and it took 53 hours. She tried twice in 2011 and once last year. The past two tries have ended because of jellyfish stings, so this time she brought divers along to swim ahead of her and clear her path. Diana revealed the secret mantra she kept repeating, to help her get through the swim this time. She says the wind blew strong for 49 hours without letting up, and she had to just keep saying, "Find a way."
Michael Douglas says there's no crisis in his marriage to Catherine Zeta-Jones, even though he does admit to being separated. Speaking to reporters in Berlin yesterday he said, quote, "I have a crisis at home? No, I think the press has a crisis. We, we are fine. My wife and I are, are fine. We take a temporary separation, but the press . . . it gives you stuff to write about."
Just days after the news came out that Clint Eastwood and his wife Dina were divorcing, Clint was seen with a "mystery woman." Sources say she spent the night at his house, and he drove her to the airport the next morning. But yesterday Dina Tweeted, quote, "I don't like reading negative things about Clint. He is a wonderful, good natured, brilliant person. No matter what, I attest to that."
