Someone really, really wanted Kim Kardashian's hand-me-down bling. The reality star's engagement ring from ex-husband Kris Humphries sold at a Christie's auction in NYC for a whopping $749,000. Bidding opened on the bauble at $200,000, with an as-yet-unknown online buyer scooping up the Lorraine Schwartz creation, which features a 16.21-carat center diamond and two 1.8-carat side diamonds. With Christie's markup, the anonymous buyer will pay a total of $749,000 for the ring. Despite that six-figure sum, it's a significant drop from the ring's initial reported worth of $2 million.  It was confirmed last month that NBA player Humphries, 28, was selling the ring with which he proposed to Kardashian, now 32, back in May 2011. The auction catalog noted that that a portion of the proceeds from the item's sale would benefit an as-yet-undetermined charity.

"Kim has been waiting for the day he would auction it," a source said in September. "Everyone always asked what Kim did with the ring -- she silently gave it back over a year ago! And Kris waited until the divorce was final to sell it."  "The ring is definitely not worth $2 million, not even half of that," sniffs the source. Indeed, Kardashian, not Humphries, initially paid for the ring herself. Married for a scant 72 days before Kardashian filed for divorce on October 31, 2011, Kardashian and Humphries finalized their contentious split in May of this year. The reality superstar, of course, is now a happy mom to daughter North West with boyfriend (but not-yet-fiance) Kanye West.

No word on Tom Cruise jumping on a couch over anybody, but his ex is moving on. News is Katie Holms and Jamie Foxx are an item, and have been since August.
Britney Spears did an interview Monday and revealed the name of her new album, which will be out on December 3rd.  It's called "Britney Jean", which is what her family calls her.  She says it's a personal thing from her life and she wants to share it now with her fans.
You may have noticed that, of late, Miley Cyrus cannot seem to keep her tongue in her mouth. Well, you also may have noticed something else, and it's even more disturbing: Her tongue often appears to be white.  "Can we just confirm that Miley's not dying of rabies?" writes Katy Waldman. She consults first with the Mayo Clinic, which says white tongue can be caused by any number of things, from the dangerous (leukoplakia, which can be precancerous) to the bizarre-sounding (oral thrush) to the scandalous (syphilis) to the perhaps-most-likely ("excessive alcohol use").  Waldman suggests Cyrus go see her dentist, and one dentist who studied the photos notes that Miley's tongue often looks normal. But a handful of the images "concern" him, he says, and "knowing her wild lifestyle, I would start thinking alcohol, drugs, or maybe bulimia, since all those things can compromise the immune system and inflame the papillae. Alcohol in particular is such an irritant to the mouth."  Treatment could be as easy as a saltwater rinse or using a tongue scraper. Cher may have been the first to point out Miley's tongue issues—she gave Cyrus some advice via USA Today last month: "Chick, don't stick out your tongue if it's coated."
Looks like Snoop Dogg is ready to get out of the reggae game, and get back to his roots.  He has a new album coming out, with a guy called Dam-Funk.  The first single is called "Faden Away", and it sounds like Snoop's first album, if it was produced by George Clinton.  Oh yeah . . . and now he wants to be called "Snoopzilla."
Lady Gaga just finished working on a holiday special that will also feature The Muppets. Kermit the Frog said in an interview last year that he'd love to work with Gaga.  He says they kind of have a courtship going on, because after the first time they met, she wore a Kermit the Frog coat on TV.
Kelly Clarkson has a holiday album coming out on October 29th.  Her version of "White Christmas" is up on YouTube now.
It pays to get into business with Peyton Manning. The 21 Papa John's franchises he bought last year are KILLING IT right now -- and employees are calling it the "Peyton Factor."  We called up each of Peyton's 21 Papa John's in the Denver area, and the story is the same everywhere: business has greatly improved since the Broncos QB took the helm.  Before Peyton purchased the locations, several restaurants reported sales of $3,000-$4,000 on any given game day -- and that number has jumped up to roughly $5,000-$6,000/day ... which equals about 60 pizzas an hour. One location reported a 25% increase in total sales since last year.

It helps that Peyton's killing it on the field too -- his Papa John's locations offer 50% off on Mondays after a Broncos win, and so far they're undefeated. Fans recognize Peyton's stores because they all feature cutouts of PM and Papa John ... and he even makes personal visits from time to time.
Michael Jackson's doctor Conrad Murray will be released from jail on October 28 after spending two-years of a four-year sentence for the manslaughter of Michael Jackson. The Jackson family recently lost a $1.5 billion lawsuit against promoter AEG Live after suing the company for the wrongful-death of Michael Jackson. Conrad Murray is being released from prison on good behavior because of overcrowded jails.  Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009 after a fatal dose of the drug Propofol, administered by Murray.
