Emily's Blog

Hello, my friends!

I am over the moon to be a part of the morning show. I am finally living proof of that old saying, “If you love what you do, you never have to work a day in your life.”
I was born in New York, although I call myself a Ken Caryl girl… A Chatfield graduate to be exact. And my many adventures have brought me everywhere from Europe to California. The stage of Shakespeare’s Globe, to the lights of the Las Vegas Strip. And after years of soul searching, two broken engagements, four different colleges, and millions of hours in the restaurant industry, here I am. Yappin yer ear off on Mix 100.

A quick breakdown of moi includes, but is not limited to:

1. I would gratefully eat sushi for each meal every day of my life if I could afford it.

2. My dirty little secrets include, but are not limited to: a full-on nail polish addiction, Bryan Fuller television series, live bar trivia, Goonies/Pretty Woman quotes, Daddy-Daughter meals, boxed-wine consumption, Marilyn Monroe and Beatles snapshot collecting, and The Gin Blossoms. I freaking love the Gin Blossoms.

3. My doggie, Kramer, is the cutest Shih Tzu on the planet; quite possibly the cutest dog in the world. It’s really not fair to other pups how ridiculously adorable my Kramer is.

4. Friends are my family, and my family is my life… And oh how I love to embarrass my sucker friends and family.

5. I, without fail, say what everyone is thinking but too scared to voice out loud. It’s a blessing… And a curse. (As I’m sure you know from listening to the show!)

Let's be friends! I'm good for a chuckle or three. And please, keep listening to Dom in the Morning with Emily and Jeremy weekday mornings for hours of laughs, stories, and general merriment. You, my dears, rock my world.  Check out my Instagram, Facebook or blog below!

While washing my hair the other day, I got a serious craving for new music from either The Killers or Brandon Flowers.
The next day I discovered that Brandon Flowers has a brand-spankin-new song out.
I'm magic.

I am a total sucker for mash-ups, covers, and different versions of popular songs. That's why when I read that The Jackson 5 song, "I Want You Back" was not only covered by a few guys, but mashed-up with Bach AND "Uptown Funk", the little music gnome in my heart did a happy dance. I will go to my grave saying that "I Want You Back" is the greatest song ever, it's universally appealing and catchy and if you were to tell me that it DIDN'T make you smile, I'd call you a big, fat liar to you face.
What does it sound like to blend the 1770s with the 1970s?
You're going to want to turn this one up…

West Side Story
I wish I had a better vocabulary to put into words the sheer joy this video brings me. Normally when I see cutesie compilations like this, I watch the first 20 seconds or so, slightly smile, and go on with my day. There's something about this combination of music and images that truly captures me, and makes my heart feel like it's running through a flower field on a beautiful spring day. (I know that's uber corny, but please refer back to the first sentence of this blog.)
From the tips of my toes to the split ends of my hair, I truly hope you enjoy this one.
xoxoxo

For all my fellow (television) athletes, get ready for a massive work-out session. Stretch those hammies and carb load, for many titles are expiring at the end of March.
But Netflix taketh away, and Netflix also giveith.
It's the circle of life.
Oh, and ladies, please take note of what will be at our fingertips on April 25… Yum.

I like animals more than I like people.
There.
I said it.

This video moves me. It's a beautiful minute and half.
Enjoy.

Ghostbusters has been flirting with movie news a lot recently.

It's fine if you don't want to admit it, but I'd wager that most of us play along with these silly name charts.
What's Your Elf Name?
What's Your Band Name?
What's Your Zombie Name?
It takes two seconds, and sometimes the results are chuckle-worthy.
And now I give you not only a fun name chart, but a deadly smile.

Oh what charm, oh what taste.

I’m slightly obsessed with all things 60s. I’ve even proudly declared my desire for full skirts, white gloves, and aprons to make a fashion come back. There’s just such a classy, high-quality, pure spirit about that decade that will allure you. The 60s were itching with change and fashion and metal and music and Jackie O and the whole kit-n-caboodle just fascinates me.

Found this story, and it made me all misty… in a good way. If you love rescue stories, dogs, or have a pulse, your heart will love this.
