Avril Lavigne Drops New Pop-Punk Single ‘Bite Me’

Pop-punk legend Avril Lavigne has returned to her roots with her brand-new song, “Bite Me.”

Released on Wednesday, November 10, the new song is drenched in guitar and percussion and explores the themes of self-worth and standing up for oneself in the face of a toxic relationship.

“I gave you one chance / You don’t get it twice / And we’ll be together never / So baby you can bite me,” the 37-year-old belts out in the chorus of the song.

This marks the singer’s first new release since recently signing with Travis Barker‘s DTA Records.

“I’m so f-ing excited to be releasing new music,” Lavigne shared with her fans on Instagram. “I had so much fun making this record. This is just a taste of what’s to come.”

In a sit-down chat with Kevan Kenney on Alt 92.3, the musician revealed that said the track is “about self-worth and standing up for yourself and just being like ‘You didn’t treat me right. You didn’t treat me well, and that doesn’t work for me….so baby, you can bite me.’”

Lavigne also described the new record, from which the song is taken, as “fast and in your face” and an entirely alternative record, front-to-back. The title and release date of the album has yet to be revealed.
