Netflix recently announced Britney Spears‘ movie Crossroads will make its streaming debut on February 15th, the exact date the movie premiered 22 years ago.
“The first movie to ever star the one and only Britney Spears has never been available on streaming. but that’s about to change!” reads the announcement from Netflix. “We’re thrilled to announce that Crossroads will finally be available on Netflix – GLOBALLY – starting February 15,”
The movie marked the former “Mickey Mouse Club” star and “Baby One More Time” singer’s big screen debut at a time when Spears was one of the biggest pop stars on the planet.
Spears plays Lucy in the film, with Zoe Saldana and Taryn Manning playing her two best friends and road trip pals. The movie also features Dan Akroyd, Beverly Johnson and Kim Cattrall.
Crossroads was screened in theaters on October 23 and 25 last year to coincide with the release of Spears’ best-selling memoir, “The Woman in Me.”
The movie, written by Shonda Rhimes and directed by Tamra Davis, tells the tale of three estranged childhood friends who reunite on the night of their high school graduation to dig up their “wish box” and set off on an adventure-filled, cross-country road trip that rekindles their friendship.
