Cardi B Pleads Guilty To Assault Charges Stemming From 2018 Strip Club Fight

Cardi B has pleaded guilty to two assault charges related to a fight at a New York strip club in 2018.

The rapper was set to go to trial last week, but she accepted a plea deal that avoids prison time. The judge sentenced the rapper to 15 days of community service; Cardi B was also handed a three-year full order of protection for the two victims and court fees.

In a statement, Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, wrote, “Part of growing up and maturing is being accountable for your actions. As a mother, it’s a practice that I am trying to instill in my children, but the example starts with me. I’ve made some bad decisions in my past that I am not afraid to face and own up to.”

“These moments don’t define me and they are not reflective of who I am now,” she added. “I’m looking forward to moving past this situation with my family and friends and getting back to the things I love the most-the music and my fans.”

In an additional statement, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said, “No one is above the law. In pleading guilty today, Ms. Belcalis Almanzar and two co-defendants have accepted responsibility for their actions. This Office is satisfied with the resolution, which includes appropriate community service.”

Prosecutors claimed that Cardi B threw champagne bottles at two sisters who were bartenders at the club. The incident stemmed from the singer claiming that one of the woman was having an affair with her husband Offset. The attack took place at Angels Strip Club in Flushing, Queens.
