Coldplay Postpone Brazil Shows Due To Chris Martin’s ‘Serious Lung Infection’

Coldplay have announced that they have been forced to postpone their upcoming shows in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo until early 2023.

“Due to a serious lung infection, Chris [Martin] has been put under strict doctor’s orders to rest for the next three weeks,” the band said in a statement posted on its social media accounts and official website.

The band said it is working “as fast as possible to lock in the new dates” and pledged to follow up with more information in the next few days.

“To everyone in Brazil who was looking forward to these concerts, we’re extremely sorry for any disappointment and inconvenience, and we’re so grateful for your understanding at this challenging time where we need to prioritise Chris’ health,” the statement added.

Tickets for the original dates will be valid for the new rescheduled dates. Also, all requests for ticket refunds will be honored at the point of sale.

Coldplay expressed hope that Martin will return to good health after the prescribed medical break and resume the tour as soon as possible.

The band was scheduled to stage shows at Estadio Nilton Santos in Rio De Janeiro on October 11 and 12, and at Allianz Parque in São Paulo on October 15, 16, 18, 19, 21 and 22.
