Coldplay’s Chris Martin Speaks Out On ‘Business Sense’ Of Eco-Friendly Touring

Coldplay‘s Chris Martin says environment-friendly touring makes “business sense.”

The Coldplay frontman made the remark in an interview with BBC Radio 4‘s “Today” program.

“What we’re trying to do is actually not advocate at all but just prove that it makes business sense because that’s where we feel you’ll really get people to change, like ‘Hey you can make more money,’” Martin said.

“If millions of people are doing a little bit, that’s going to add up to something,” he told “Today” guest editor Ellie Goulding.

The British rock band announced in June that their Music Of The Spheres Tour produced 47 percent less CO2 emissions than their last stadium tour in 2016-17, adding that there’s still room for improvement.

Coldplay said that now into the second year of the tour, the band is running the entire show from an electric battery system that uses 100 percent renewable energy.

Also, the band has been using electric vehicles and alternative fuels wherever they can as well as reducing waste and plastic usage to a minimum.
