Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ Video Joins YouTube’s ‘Billion Views Club’

The video for Coldplay‘s “Yellow” has joined the Billion Views Club on YouTube, earning the British rock band their fifth entry in the club.

Coldplay wrote “Yellow” and co-produced it with British record producer Ken Nelson for their debut album, Parachutes (2000). The song was released on June 26, 2000, as the second U.K. single from Parachutes, following “Shiver,” and as the lead single in the United States.

The minimalistic music video for “Yellow” was filmed at Studland Bay in the county of Dorset, South West England. The visual only features frontman Chris Martin singing the song as he walks along the beach. The video is one continuous shot with no cuts, and the entire sequence is in slow motion.

The video was directed by British directing duo James Frost & Alex Smith of The Artists Company.

It is the band’s fifth music video to reach 1 billion views on YouTube after “Paradise,” “Adventure of a Lifetime,” “The Scientist” and “Hymn for the Weekend” featuring Beyonce.
