Dua Lipa won two major awards at this year’s Brit Awards – British Female Solo Artist and British Album of the Year.
Lipa was adjudged the best Female Solo Artist for her incredible work throughout the past year. She beat Arlo Parks, Celeste, Jessie Ware and Lianne La Havas to take home the coveted award.
She won the best album award for Future Nostalgia, the best-selling album released last year. The other nominees in this category were Arlo Parks with Collapsed in Sunbeams, Celeste with Not Your Muse, J Hus with Big Conspiracy, and Jessie Ware with What’s Your Pleasure?
The 25-year-old English singer-songwriter demanded a pay rise for nurses in her acceptance speech.
J Hus won the British Male Solo Artist award, while Taylor Swift was honored with the Global Icon award.
It was the first major in-person ceremony held during the pandemic in the United Kingdom, which was attended by a 4,000-strong audience at London’s O2 Arena.
