Glass Animals‘ “Heat Waves” has reached No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 after spending 59 weeks on the chart, setting a new record.
“Heat Waves” breaks the record held by Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which spent 35 nonconsecutive weeks on the chart before hitting No. 1 in December 2019.
A single from the album Dreamland, “Heat Waves” was released in June 2020, and debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated January 16, 2021.
The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data.
“Heat Waves” drew 66.7 million radio airplay audience impression and 14.8 million U.S. streams and sold 2,900 downloads in the February 25-March 3 tracking week, as per MRC Data.
“Heat Waves” is the first chart topper for Glass Animals, which consists of Dave Bayley, Edmund Irwin-Singer, Drew MacFarlane and Joe Seaward.
