Glass Animals’ ‘Heat Waves’ Top’s Billboard’s Year-End Hot 100 Songs Chart

Glass Animals‘ “Heat Waves” has topped Billboard‘s 2022 year-end Hot 100 songs chart.

The first Hot 100 topper for the British quartet, comprised of Dave Bayley, Edmund Irwin-Singer, Drew MacFarlane and Joe Seaward, “Heatwaves” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated January 16, 2021.

Speaking about the achievement, Bailey Bayley, “The song is about nostalgia and the past, and remembering and missing people.”

“I think through the last couple years, and still now, people have been missing their loved ones, and not everyone’s been able to just go visit their parents, or their best friend. It’s been quite difficult . that’s my hunch as to why people have gravitated towards this song,” added the Glass Animals lead vocalist.

Harry Styles‘ “As It Was” is ranked second, followed by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber‘s “Stay,” Adele‘s “Easy on Me” and Ed Sheeran‘s “Shivers” on the year-end Hot 100 Songs chart top 5.

Meanwhile, Bad Bunny is ranked No. 1 on Billboard‘s 2022 year-end Hot 100 Artists chart.

Billboard’s year-end music recaps represent aggregated metrics for each artist, title, label and music contributor on the weekly charts between November 20, 2021, and November 12, 2022.

The rankings for Luminate-based recaps reflect equivalent album units, airplay, sales or streaming during the weeks that the titles appeared on a respective chart during the tracking year.
