Halsey Signs With Columbia Records Following Split From Capitol Records

Halsey has signed with Columbia Records after parting ways with their longtime label Capitol Records in April.

Halsey and Capitol Records’ split came a year after the singer claimed that the label was blocking the release of their new song in order to test its TikTok virality.

“Basically I have a song that I love that I wanna release ASAP,” the singer wrote over a video of themselves listening to the track. “But my record label won’t let me.”

“I’ve been in this industry for eight years and I’ve sold over 165 million records and my record company is saying I can’t release [the song] unless they can fake a viral moment on TikTok.”

“Everything is marketing,” concluded Halsey’s Tiktok, “and they are doing this to every artist these days. I just want to release music, man and I deserve better tbh. I’m tired.”

Halsey’s move to sign with Columbia reunites them with the label behind one of the two biggest hits of their career: “Closer,” the Chainsmokers song featuring them on co-lead vocals, and “Without Me.”
