Kanye West Sued For Assault For Grabbing, Throwing Photographer’s Phone

Kanye West has been sued for assault following an incident in which he allegedly grabbed a photographer’s phone and threw it into traffic.

According to the documents filed in California Superior Court last Wednesday (May 31), photographer Nichol Lechmanik has sued Ye for assault, battery, negligence and interference with the exercise of her civil rights following the alleged altercation on January 27 outside Sports Academy in Newbury Park, California.

Lechmanik has alleged that she was driving her car and filming Ye’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian as she exited the facility, when she noticed West “angrily confronting” another photographer on the street outside.

“Given Defendant Ye’s reputation for violence against photographers, his history of physically harming them, and based on his threatening body language, Plaintiff became fearful for the photographer’s safety,” the complaint reads.

Lechmanik said on Thursday (June 1) during a press conference that when she began filming the incident on her phone from inside her car with the window open, Ye “reached into my car as if he were going to hit me, he grabbed my phone out of my hand and then angrily threw it into the street. He caused so much fear that I have not been the same since.”

Saying that she “anticipates incurring medical and related expenses,” Lechmanik seeks an injunction to prevent Kanye from physically touching or harassing not only herself but any other photographer.
