Lil Nas X Declines To Address Homophobia In Rap Due To Safety Concerns

Rapper Lis Nas X has revealed that he is reluctant to address homophobia within the Hip-Hop & Rap community for fear of getting harassed.

In a recent interview with Variety, the 22-year-old openly queer musician shared that he doesn’t “want to speak on a lot of the homophobia within rap because I feel like this is a very dangerous playing field.”

Nas’ stance comes on the heels of the recent controversy stirred by fellow rapper DaBaby, who made homophobic comments at one of his concerts.

“It’s more for my own safety rather than anything else,” continued the “Old Town Road” singer, adding that soon after the release of his sexually explicit “Montero” music video, his car was chased down by someone who hurled swear words at him; “And that’s when I actually started getting security.”
