Lizzo Seeks Dismissal Of ‘Meritless And Salacious’ Harassment Lawsuit

Lizzo‘s lawyers have filed a motion seeking the dismissal of a harassment and misconduct lawsuit brought by a former employee, calling it “meritless and salacious.”

The lawsuit was filed in September in a Los Angeles court by Asha Daniels, who worked as a wardrobe designer on Lizzo’s 2023 tour. She accused Lizzo and her team of racial and sexual harassment, disability discrimination, illegal retaliatory termination, and assault.

The “Juice” singer’s legal team has asked to dismiss the lawsuit filed by Daniels, claiming it as “meritless and salacious.”

“During her brief employment by [Lizzo’s touring company], Plaintiff refused to comply with instructions from her supervisors and tour management, failed to perform the work that she was assigned and, eventually, just played hooky and refused to show up for work,” the filing says. “Unsurprisingly, she was terminated after abandoning her post on the day of a concert in Paris, France.”

Lizzo, a flag bearer of body positivity, was in August also sued by three of her former dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez, who accused the superstar of sexual harassment and the creation of a hostile work environment.

In their lawsuit, one dancer accused Lizzo of calling out her weight gain and firing her for recording a meeting. Other allegations mentioned in the lawsuit included Lizzo falsely accusing dancers of drinking on the job, leading to an “excruciating” audition.
