Lorde Pushes Back Against Idea She Made A ‘Jack Antonoff Record’

In a recent interview with The New York Times, popstar Lorde addressed comments she has gotten about having made a “Jack Antonoff Record.”

Producer and singer-songwriter in his own right, Antonoff often collaborates with a host of well-known artists, including Taylor Swift, Lana Del Ray, and Clairo, in addition to Lorde, who have previously been referred to as “Jack’s stable.”

In the interview published Thursday, August 12, the 24-year-old musician made it a point to clarify that she has decidedly not made a “Jack Antonoff Record” but a “Lorde Record.”

Antonoff helped her “make it and very much deferred to me on production and arrangement,” she stated. “Jack would agree with this. To give him that amount of credit is frankly insulting.”

While there are certain Antonoff trademarks that are recognizable across his vast body of work, she continued, she had complete agency over what to keep and what to discard.

“Some of those things I really love and some of them I don’t like,” she said. “And I beat them out of the work that we do together.”

The record in question is the “Royals” singer’s forthcoming third studio album, Solar Power, slated to be released on August 20.
