The Primavera Sound Festival, scheduled to be held in June 2021, has been pushed back to 2022 now, according to an announcement posted by organizers on the Primavera website and on social media on March 2.
The festival, originally supposed to take place in 2020, got postponed to June 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Organizers now say it is impossible to have the show this year due to “the uncertainty surrounding legal framework for large events.”
“Although it is painful, we know that this is the right decision, especially for those of you who have to plan your trip in advance,” they continued.
“But the twentieth anniversary of Primavera Sound deserves a party like the ones we are used to, and the global situation does not seem favourable to allowing something like this to happen this summer. At least not in a way in which we can live the full Primavera Sound experience.”
“We are really sorry for all the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause. We will make it doubly good in 2022,” the organizers added. “Because yes, really, we will dance together again. and like never before.”
A note from the organizers say tickets bought for the 2020 and 2021 festival will be honored. The organizers have also said that the line up for 2022 festival will be announced on June 2.
Several top acts including Pavement, Bikini Kill, the Strokes, Gorillaz, Massive Attack, Tame Impala, Bad Bunny, the National, FKA twigs, the Jesus And Mary Chain, and Tyler, The Creator were scheduled to perform at the event this year.
