Reimagined Version Of Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ Featured In School Gun Violence PSA

A reimagined version of Katy Perry‘s “Teenage Dream,” performed by the victims of school shootings, is featured in a new PSA from the non-profit Sandy Hook Promise.

“#TheTeenageDream is not what it used to be. Watch our PSA, a new version of @KatyPerry’s song ‘Teenage Dream,’” the Sandy Hook Promise account tweeted and warned that the video contains sensitive content related to gun violence that can be triggering.

Katy also posted the two-and-a-half-minute PSA that shows various young people reciting and/or singing the lyrics of “Teenage Dream.” That’s followed by the words “The teenage dream is not what it used to be.”

BBDO New York and director Henry-Alex Rubin created the PSA, which continues Sandy Hook Promise’s long-running message of knowing the signs to recognize problematic behavior, mental health issues, and more that could lead a young person to commit violence.

Sandy Hook Promise is led by the family members of those killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.
