Shawn Mendes shared a new single, “It’ll Be Okay,” on Wednesday, December 1, just two week after his high-profile breakup with Camila Cabello, whom he dated for more than two years.
The singer had first teased the single via Instagram on Tuesday with a 12-second snippet of him singing, “Are we gonna make it?/ Is this gonna hurt?”.
“If you tell me you’re leaving, I’ll make it easy/ It’ll be okay/ If we can’t stop the bleeding/ We don’t have to fix it/ We don’t have to stay/ I will love you either way/ Ooh-ooh, it’ll be oh, be okay/ Ooh-ooh,” he continues in the chorus.
Mendes and Cabello announced their breakup in mid-November on their respective Instagram stories. The pair had collaborated for “Señorita” in 2019, which topped the Billboard Hot 100.
“It’ll Be Okay” is Mendes’ first new solo music since his fourth studio album, Wonder, which arrived last December.
Mendes is set to embark on his Wonder: the World Tour next year, which will kick off in March in Europe before heading to the U.S. in summer 2022.
