Taylor Swift Reacts To ‘Excruciating’ Ticketmaster Fiasco

A day after Live Nation‘s Ticketmaster said tickets for her “Eras” tour will no longer be put on sale for the general public, Taylor Swift took to Instagram on Friday (November 18) to address the issue.

“It goes without saying that I’m extremely protective of my fans,” Swift wrote. “We’ve been doing this for decades together and over the years, I’ve brought so many elements of my career in house. I’ve done this SPECIFICALLY to improve the quality of my fans’ experience by doing it myself with my team who care as much about my fans as I do.”

Swift noted that it’s difficult for her to trust an “outside entity” and said it’s “excruciating” for her to “watch mistakes happen with no recourse.”

“There are a multitude of reasons why people had such a hard time trying to get tickets and I’m trying to figure out how this situation can be improved moving forward,” she continued.  “I’m not going to make excuses for anyone because we asked them, multiple times, if they could handle this kind of demand and we were assured they could. It’s truly amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really pisses me off that a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them.”

“All I can say is that my hope is to provide more opportunities for us to all get together and sing these songs,” she added.

Ticketmaster decided to stop selling tickets for the tour due to “extraordinarily high demands and lack of remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand.”

“The staggering number of bot attacks as well as fans who didn’t have invite codes drove unprecedented traffic on our site,” Ticketmaster said.

The company said that over 3.5 million fans had pre-registered for the tour and the amount of traffic during Taylor’s pre-sale could have filled 900 stadiums instead of the 52 shows currently planned.
