Taylor Swift’s ‘Tortured Poets Department’ Surpasses 1 Billion Spotify Streams In 5 Days

Taylor Swift‘s The Tortured Poets Department surpassed one billion Spotify streams within just five days of its release, a first in the streaming platform’s history.

Spotify said the superstar singer’s surprise double album also achieved a few other milestones.

On April 18, it became the most pre-saved album Countdown Page in Spotify.

On April 19, the album became the first in Spotify history to reach over 300 million streams in a single day. On the same day, its debut single, “Fortnight (feat. Post Malone),” became the most-streamed song in a single day in Spotify.

On April 22, The Tortured Poets Department became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single week.

Rounding out the records, Swift became the most-streamed artist in a single day in Spotify history with The Tortured Poets Department, breaking her previous record achieved with the October 27, 2023 release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

Swift dropped her highly anticipated The Tortured Poets Department as a surprise double album via Republic Records on April 19.

After the conventional midnight release of the standard volume of The Tortured Poets Department, consisting of sixteen songs, Swift surprise-released the second volume, subtitled The Anthology, two hours later.

While the first volume features collaborations with Post Malone and the English indie rock band Florence + the Machine, the second volume contains 15 additional songs, four of which are previously announced physical bonus tracks. “Fortnight,” featuring Malone, was named the album’s lead single.

Written and produced by Swift, Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner, the 31-track double album has more than two hours of playing time in total.

The Tortured Poets Department is the eleventh studio album by the singer-songwriter and her fifth studio album in less than five years.
