R&B superstar The Weeknd has set a new record by becoming the first artist to hit 100 million monthly listeners on music streaming app Spotify.
“It’s official: On February 27, The Weeknd became the first artist in Spotify History to reach 100 Million monthly listeners,” the streaming service announced.
At the time of the press release, The Weeknd was followed by Drake, who sits at 68.6 million, Taylor Swift with 80.3 million and Miley Cyrus with 82.5 million.
The new milestone comes just a few days after Weeknd dropped his new remix of “Die for You” with Ariana Grande.
The singers have previously joined forces several times, teaming up for the first time in 2014, when The Weeknd appeared on Grande’s “Love Me Harder” from her second album My Everything.
They also collaborated again on Grande’s “Off the Table,” a standout cut from her Positions project. Two years ago, they again collaborated for the “Save Your Tears” remix.
