The Weeknd Claps Back At Rolling Stone After Report Criticizing ‘The Idol’

The Weeknd clapped back at Rolling Stone last week, responding to reports criticizing his upcoming HBO series “The Idol.”

The R&B superstar’s attack came after the magazine claimed that the series, created with “Euphoria’s” Sam Levinson, has “gone wildly, disgustingly off the rails.”

The Weeknd took to social media to share a clip from “The Idol” and captioned the post, “@rollingstone did we upset you?”

The clip shows self-help guru Tedros (the Weeknd) and the titular character Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) sitting poolside while speaking to Dan Levy‘s character.

As Levy asks Depp for a photoshoot for Rolling Stone, the Weeknd rejects the idea, saying, “Rolling Stone? Aren’t they a little irrelevant?”

“Nobody cares about Rolling Stone.Rolling Stone has 6 million followers on Instagram, half of them probably bots,” he adds. “And Jocelyn has 78 million followers. All real. So she does a photoshoot, she tags them, they get her followers, more money for Rolling Stone, nothing for Jocelyn.”

As Levy’s character replies, “There’s a lot for Jocelyn,” Tedros responds, “Not in Rolling Stone.”

Rolling Stone’s editor-in-chief Noah Shachtman responded, saying, “Not at all” and shared two Rolling Stone covers featuring the Weeknd.
