Rappers Travis Scott and Drake have been named as co-defendants in the first lawsuit filed after the Astroworld Music Festival tragedy, in which eight people were killed and dozens of others were injured.
Concert company Live Nation and NRG Stadium agent Harris County Sports & Convention Corp. have have been named in the lawsuit accusing them of prioritizing “profits over their attendees” during Friday’s music concert in Houston.
One of the attendees of the concert, who was injured in the stampede, is the complainant.
The concertgoer – Manuel Souza, who is being represented by the law firm Kherkher Garcia, has accused Scott and surprise performer Drake of inciting the crowd and has sought $1 million in damages.
The lawsuit filed in Harris County, Texas, alleges that Souza “suffered serious bodily injuries when the uncontrolled crowd at the concert knocked him to the ground and trampled him”.
Houston Police are investigating the tragic incident.
