Yungblud recently released a powerful music video for his latest single, “Hated.”

Sandeep & Chadrick directed the video for the singer’s most lyrically poignant and personal offering to date.

“Hated is the most personal song I’ve ever released,” Yungblud shared in a statement, as the song addresses the fact that he was “molested by a doctor” when he was a child.

“Alright kid, how’s life? ’bout time that we spoke / Let’s talk about the day when you were seven years old,” the opening lyrics go.

“It’s a rallying cry and an exposition of the soul,” Yungblud explains. “This song is ultimately about freeing yourself from bad experiences and trauma. Finding inner strength. Acknowledging your past, accepting the pain and having the courage not to let it define your future.”

“You gotta kill somebody to be somebody to be who you want to be / You gotta hit rock bottom to live through all the shit nobody believes / You’re gonna hurt some people / But first some people will thirst on watching you bleed / And that’s when you know that you made it / You made it / When you’re hated,” Yungblud sings.
