Billie Eilish, BTS Songs Among Best Music To Fall Asleep To, Study Says

Billie Eilish, BTS Songs Among Best Music To Fall Asleep To, Study Says

A study by Aarhus University researchers ranks songs from Billie Eilish and BTS to be among the best music that can help people fall asleep.

The researchers reportedly analyzed over 200,000 songs on over 1,000 Spotify sleeping playlists to rank the tracks.

"It was surprising to see how many different types of music people use for sleep," Kira Vibe Jespersen, an assistant professor at the Center for Music in the Brain, told the New York Post. "Not only different genres, but also different audio characteristics . ranging from slow, soothing instrumental tracks to more energetic uptempo pop music."

The research, shared in journal PLOS One, suggests that fans often turn to familiar songs to help them fall asleep.

"In this study, we investigated the characteristics of music used for sleep and found that even though sleep music in general is softer, slower, instrumental and more often played on acoustic instruments than other music, the music people use for sleep displays a large variation including music characterized by high energy and tempo," the study authors said in a release.

The research team noted "considerable diversity" in songs that helped listeners fall asleep, and laid out six distinct sub-categories outside of such songs, with three of them lining up with typical characteristics (like ambient music).

Songs like "Dynamite" by BTS and "Lovely" by Eilish ft. Khalid fell into the other three categories of sleep music, as both songs are considered higher energy.

The study said more research is needed to determine why listeners chose such songs to help them sleep, as there is no "one-size-fits-all" playlist for sleeping.

Drake Pauses Apollo Show After Fan Falls From Balcony

Drake Pauses Apollo Show After Fan Falls From Balcony

Drake paused his show at the Apollo Theater this past weekend after a fan fell from the mezzanine into the crowd below.

The Toronto rapper was performing at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York, for the second of two intimate shows sponsored by SiriusXM.

A crew member rushed forward and spoke with the rapper, who then left the stage. "Just have to make sure somebody's OK," Drake told the audience.

The venue's lights were turned on, and security guards could be seen running through the crowd toward the spot where the man landed.

After about 15 minutes, the venue announced that no one had been injured in the incident.

"Everybody is absolutely OK," an announcement was made. "They are being checked on. Nobody's hurt. But I got even-better news for you: We're at the Apollo, so the show must go on."

In a statement shared with Pitchfork, a representative for the Apollo Theater explained, "Unfortunately, last evening an incident occurred with an audience member who landed in the orchestra from the lower mezzanine. Drake, Apollo, and SiriusXM halted the show immediately when learning of a potential fan injury and standard protocols were taken."

"They were seen immediately by EMS on site. The fan and other audience members reported that they were OK. No major injuries have been reported. The Apollo is investigating the situation further," the statement added.

A$AP Rocky Reflects On Violence In Hip-Hop On New Track 'Same Problems?'

A$AP Rocky Reflects On Violence In Hip-Hop On New Track 'Same Problems?'

A$AP Rocky recently shared a new track called "Same Problems?" that reflects on violence in hip-hop.

"N*** dyin' every other night/N*** cryin', that's a part of life/Lyin' to my face, tryna say that it's all good/No, I'm not alright," he raps.

"How many problems get solved?/ Am I a product of things that I saw?/ How many problems get solved?/ Am I proud of the things in my songs?" he further asks in the single's chorus.

During an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Rocky explained that he wrote the track because he "was feeling remorse."

"I think I was feeling plight. I think I was also feeling a sense of guilt, because every time we lose somebody in our community, we all - especially me - have a habit of just saying things like, 'It's messed up. It's wrong. Why do these kind of things happen?'" he said.
